Immersion brought in the fall season with a number of big announcements on haptics. Acer, Gameloft, Stoli, Opera, Bandai Namco and Google Play all were a part of a big fall rush for haptics, signaling the growing interest in the adoption of the technology across the ecosystem.
First up, Immersion announced its collaboration with Acer and Gameloft on the design of the first dual haptic tablet on the market, the Predator 8, pre-loaded with the first mobile game designed for dual haptics, “Asphalt 8.” The joint effort between Acer, Gameloft and Immersion was a cross collaboration project to leverage the capabilities on the device with content designed for haptics.
Expanding advertisers capabilities for haptics, Immersion and Opera’s announced the availability of haptics in Opera Mediaworks in-app advertising platform. The announcement showcased Stoli® Vodka as the first brand to leverage touch-enhanced advertising on the mobile phone. Immersion also made big strides in mobile gaming with “PAC-MAN,” “Power Rangers Dash,” and “Nibblers” from Angry Birds joining the fold of the “Games You Can Feel” featured collection in Google Play.
